I declare that the whole world of Harry Potter is the sole property of J.K. Rowling and that this story was not written for profit.

When I arrived, I opened the door and called into the dark flat, "I'm home!" But nobody answered. My things stood by the door where the courier had left them, so I decided Severus had probably stayed somewhere with friends, or lost track of time at work. I had no reason to doubt him.

I put my keys on the table in the hallway and took off my coat and shoes. I went into the kitchen and took out some meat to cook for the next day. At the same time I went to the bathroom, ran a bubble bath and poured myself a glass of red wine. I lit two candles and went to soak in the tub. ABBA was playing from the radio on the cupboard, and I put a black satin mask over my eyes to rest.

When the Phil Collins song "Take a Look at Me Now" started, big calloused hands with long fingers settled on my shoulders and began to massage me gently. I sighed when one hand slid down to my breast. It squeezed, and a wave of desire ran through me. I wanted to take off the mask to look at my husband, but he stopped me. The other hand slowly followed the first and squeezed the nipple of my other breast, while his lips slid from my ear to my neck and began to caress me there. My skin was very sensitive, I got goosebumps instantly and grew wet.

"Well, well..." he purred in that deep voice of his, which made me tremble all on its own, and moved. For a moment he rustled about, I guessed he was undressing, and then he helped me sit up so he could get in behind me. I heard water splash over the edge. But who cared. I leaned back against his chest and felt the hair on it gently tickle my back. I pictured my sexy husband as he spread my legs and began to explore me there. I lost control of myself again as I turned my head to the side and started to moan. Severus was aroused, I could feel it against my backside. He lifted me onto him, and while I tossed my head helplessly on his shoulder, he slid smoothly inside me and filled me. "Welcome home, darling..." he purred, and then helped me rise and fall in the water. It didn't take long and I was in some other universe. Beautiful and abstract. In that moment Severus came with me, and he took the mask off my eyes himself. He kissed my nose and smiled.

I, on the other hand, got a shock. "Where's your hair?" I stared wide eyed at the short modern cut. Laughter bubbled up in Severus's chest. "Where do you think? I had it cut. I'm a university professor now, I can't go flapping around like some greasy bat, can I?" That annoyed me a little. "I liked my greasy bat," I sulked. "You have to admit it suits me. I'm tall, clean shaven, with a modern haircut and of course modern clothes." I took the classic cut trousers and white open collared shirts as a change for the better, but the hair. He looked younger and distinguished. "Well. As a professor you'll definitely look more approachable now. You're not terrifying anymore... I'll have to keep a close eye out to chase away all those eager students!" Severus rolled his eyes. "No such students exist. I'm still trying to work out what you see in me. No woman has ever turned to look at me in my life!" I didn't answer that. I certainly wasn't going to stroke his ego by telling him that at Hogwarts he had been considered not only a terrifying person, but above all a sexy villain. If only they hadn't been afraid to show it, Severus might have been tied down to someone else before he knew what hit him. "You might be surprised..." But I didn't elaborate.

I climbed out of the bath and looked at Severus from a different perspective. "But yes, it suits you... Anyway, nobody would guess your age now!" Severus watched me go, and I went to the bedroom. I put on my pyjamas and went to make dinner and lunch for the next day.

When he appeared in the kitchen too, dressed, I allowed myself to ask him where he had been. "The day before yesterday the senior students drove me completely out of my mind, and I gave them all detention for yesterday. I know it's somewhat unusual at university, but I doubt I'd earn any respect if I weren't strict. And since they're a bunch of incompetent individuals, it took them almost until midnight to prepare the ingredients for the next day. I didn't feel like coming back, so I slept on the sofa." He didn't say more, but I could imagine how furious he had been. I finished cooking and sat down with Severus at the table. With a snap of his fingers he lit a candle wandlessly and turned an ordinary dinner into something romantic.

At night, when Severus was already asleep, I stared at the ceiling. I wasn't due to start until the following Monday. Four days left. I was glad, because by the look of it I would have to keep a very close eye on my husband.

My long awaited day arrived. My first day at university, and in that moment my eyes flew open, I sat up and looked at the alarm clock. Icy horror washed over me when I saw 7:30 on it, and school started at 8:00. I flew out of bed when I realised Severus was no longer home. I got so angry you wouldn't believe it. I swore I would give him hell for it! Letting me oversleep, when we even go the same way to school!

I got dressed in record time. I didn't have time to wash and do my hair, so I set off to school without breakfast and dishevelled, like back in my first year at Hogwarts. Flustered, I was running through the front door when the clock chimed and I realised I really hadn't made it to the lecture hall in time, and Severus was supposed to teach us! I growled and flung the classroom door open. As if on command, the whole lecture hall turned towards me, Severus too. With a very grumpy face he slowly began, "The young lady can't arrive on time? And the doors close by themselves?" Everything in me was boiling. I couldn't say anything to him in front of the students, so at least I slammed the door wandlessly and then answered as calmly as I could. "I'm sorry, Professor. My husband," I made sure to stress the word, "switched off my alarm and forgot to wake me. It won't happen again." I hoped Severus would back down and keep quiet, but that wouldn't have been him. "So your husband is to blame for your late arrival and not your own irresponsibility? Or perhaps, miss, he's also to blame for you coming in unkempt and closing doors with a good dose of bad manners? I would have thought that at your age you'd have these things under control and wouldn't need a carer." Giggling spread through the hall, which made me even angrier, but before I could say anything, Severus quietly but very dangerously snapped at the class, "Silence!" and turned back to the blackboard.

So I silently took out my textbook and prayed for the lecture to end so I could leave. Unfortunately, as is usually the case, I was thrown off balance and time passed extremely slowly. On top of that, Severus kept randomly quizzing students on the finer points of potions that any average wizard should know from the lower years, and I slowly stopped paying attention and sank into gloom. I was only brought back by the unpleasant voice of my husband, standing over me and clearly angry to the highest degree. "So, irresponsible, ill mannered, unkempt and not paying attention either. With all that, Miss Granger, you won't last long here. As I'm sure you remember from our lessons at Hogwarts, I have certain standards, and what you're displaying definitely isn't among them! Pull yourself together, or don't bother coming here again!"

I stared at him with a truly "idiot" expression, because I simply didn't get it! What was he angry about? I was supposed to be the one furious enough to make sparks fly! HE was the one who left without me for the school where he teaches and I study, and on top of that it looked as if he had planned it so that I would be late! He made a fool of me in front of everyone over a completely minor slip and then carried on, without noticing that two desks away a student was clearly asleep, sprawled across her desk. I felt truly rattled and completely wound up! No matter how hard I tried, I didn't recognise my Severus, and I couldn't rationally explain his behaviour. After this subject our year had two more. Herbology and accounting. It can come in very handy in business, after all. But I was so upset that I didn't enjoy either lesson. On top of that, it looked like I probably wouldn't even make friends, not that it surprised me. Before Hogwarts I'd had none, and after Hogwarts I lost them because of the wedding. Apparently I'm not meant to have anyone to lean on.

Lost in these thoughts, I didn't watch where I was going and got a small shock when I landed face first in the arms of some young man. A fellow student maybe? Mortified and red cheeked, I looked up and met a pleasant hazel gaze. I began apologising in shame when the boy started laughing. "That's alright, Granger!" My eyes went wide. "Do we know each other?" He just lowered his voice slyly. "No, but I'm in your year and the same programme. To be honest, I remembered you thanks to our dear professor's little performance!" My heart sank and I smiled glumly. "Oh yeah. He really gave it to me..." and I chuckled. "So shall we add harassing students to the list?" I spun around angrily towards that mocking voice and promised him death at home with my eyes... But the boy surprised me. "Not at all, Professor! I invited her for coffee. Me and only me. And she said yes! So if anything, I'm the one harassing students..." I closed my eyes. Now I'd be the one paying for it at home...

"Miss Granger is going home to study, to improve the dreadful impression she made! And you, Grint, will go too and stop harassing her!" Severus growled. I snorted angrily. "Don't worry! I'll be prepared for your lesson, and now excuse us. We're going for coffee together." I turned my back on Severus, and my new friend hurried after me in surprise. "Well, now you've put him in his place, and judging by his face, next lesson will be hell for you..."

Severus stared after them, boiling with rage. He was fully determined to make Hermione pay for this!

I write mainly in the Harry Potter and Mo Dao Zu Shi fandoms, most often Snarry, Snamione, HarryLu and WangXian. My healthcare background means that anatomy, medicine and far too much research occasionally find their way into my stories. Cosplay is another way for me to play with the characters I love, whether I stay close to canon or turn them into my own fanfiction and AU versions.
