Note, this Harry Potter quiz is not about which pairing you prefer.

And it is certainly not about how those relationships “should” work if they were written differently, more gently or more romantically. If you prefer out of character versions of the characters, this test is probably not for you.

I tried to base everything on who these characters are in canon. I do not give weight to tropes or to fanon interpretations that simplify or reshape their behavior to make it more palatable.

The dynamics you will see here are not safe, healthy or simple. That is precisely why they are interesting. Each pairing is built on a different kind of tension. In some cases it is power, in others conflict, unspoken emotions, manipulation or projection. Most of these relationships would not work in real life in the long term, and it is important to acknowledge that from the start.

The point of this test is not to find out who you would want. The point is to look at what kind of dynamic you respond to, even when you know it is not ideal.

Answer honestly, not according to what you think should come out.

How to take and evaluate the test?

For each question, choose only one answer. Not the one that sounds “right,” but the one that feels closest to you. If you hesitate between two options, go with the one that comes to mind first.

At the end, count which letter appears most often. That determines your result.

If two letters are almost tied, treat it as a combination of two dynamics. In that case, it makes sense to read both results and focus on what they have in common.

It is important to stick to one choice per question. As soon as you start combining answers within a single question, the result stops making sense.

This test is not about perfect accuracy. It only works if you answer directly and without overthinking.

    Results?

A → Snarry dynamic (Harry × Severus Snape)

Dynamika, která stojí na nevyřčeném porozumění, kontrole emocí a dlouhodobém napětí, které se nikdy úplně neuvolní.
    Snarry

Your result suggests that you are drawn to a dynamic built on unspoken understanding, emotional restraint and a kind of long term tension that never fully resolves. This is not romance in the traditional sense. It is a connection that exists beneath the surface, unnamed and perhaps never meant to be defined.

In canon, there is no equality or openness between them. Snape maintains distance, filters everything he says and leaves most things unsaid. Harry, on the other hand, reacts directly and for a long time does not understand what lies behind that behavior. The dynamic rests on the fact that one knows more than he reveals, while the other feels more than he understands. That creates a tension that cannot be easily resolved.

If this were to develop into a relationship while staying true to their characters, it could not function as an open or communicative kind of love. It would exist in the space between words. In subtle shifts of behavior that go unacknowledged. There would be respect, but it would remain unspoken. There would be attraction, but it would not be admitted. This is the kind of dynamic you respond to. Not certainty, but meaning that has to be read and interpreted.

What holds this pairing together in fanfiction is not that the characters are rewritten into someone else. It works because the foundation already exists in canon and remains unresolved. There is no emptiness between them. There is history, misunderstanding, one sided knowledge and above all a context that is revealed too late and reframes everything.

Writers often return to the moment when Harry begins to understand what he did not know before. Not to forgive Snape, but to shift the way he sees him. That moment creates space for a relationship that would not have been possible earlier. Not because the conflict disappears, but because it is no longer based solely on ignorance.

What this dynamic explores is not how they would be happy together. It asks what happens when misunderstanding is removed, but everything else remains. Snape is still guarded, Harry is still direct, yet now there is an awareness between them that was not there before. That changes how they interact without necessarily leading to a clear resolution.

There is often a form of respect that is neither comfortable nor easy. It arrives late and neither of them knows how to express it. At the same time, Snape retains control, and Harry continues to test or try to understand it. The relationship does not move forward through declarations, but through small shifts in behavior.

That is why this pairing works. Not because it is romantic, but because it allows for the exploration of a relationship built not on communication, but on awareness. On the fact that both of them know more than they are willing to admit, and that this alone is enough for something to exist between them, even if it is never simple or fully defined.

B → Harrylu dynamic (Harry × Lucius Malfoy)

Dynamika, kde je přitažlivost přímo spojená s mocí, kontrolou a vědomou nerovnováhou.
    HarryLu

Your result suggests that you are drawn to a dynamic where attraction is directly tied to power, control and a conscious imbalance. This is not a relationship built on equality or safety. Quite the opposite. It works because one person holds the upper hand and the other is aware of it, yet does not fully break away.

In canon, Lucius is someone who maintains control over both situations and the people around him. He does not act impulsively, does not reveal more than necessary, and any sense of attraction, if present, is inseparable from his status and influence. Harry, on the other hand, stands outside this world, yet steps into it and responds to it. That clash creates a space where attraction is not separate from tension, but emerges directly from it.

If this were to develop into a relationship while remaining true to canon, it could not function as an open or equal kind of love. It would be a dynamic where it is clear who holds control, but never entirely clear where that control ends. Harry would not be passive, but he would never be the one setting the rules. That is what creates an attraction that is not safe, yet undeniably strong.

What draws you to this is not dominance on its own. It is the situation where one person knows exactly what they are doing, and the other responds to it even when they should not. Attraction is not separate from power here. It is part of it. Which means the relationship can never be clean or simple.

This pairing works in fanfiction precisely because the foundation exists in canon, even if it is not fully developed. Writers explore what happens when Harry enters a space where Lucius dominates and begins to respond to him differently than as an enemy. Not because he changes, but because he starts to understand how the other operates. That is the point where attraction can emerge, not in spite of the tension, but because of it.

What is often explored is what a relationship looks like when control itself becomes part of the attraction. Where it is never entirely clear whether one person is leading, or whether the other is simply allowing it to appear that way. And that uncertainty is exactly what keeps the dynamic alive.

C → DraRy dynamic (Harry × Draco Malfoy)

Dynamika, kde se přitažlivost rodí z konfliktu a postupně se mění, aniž by ten konflikt úplně zmizel.
    Drarry

Your result suggests that you are drawn to a dynamic where attraction grows out of conflict and gradually shifts without that conflict ever fully disappearing. It is not about two people quickly understanding each other. It is about prolonged resistance, and the tension that emerges precisely because of it.

In canon, there is a resistance between them that is not accidental. Draco represents a world and a set of values that Harry rejects, while Harry is someone who challenges everything Draco was raised to believe in. The relationship is neither neutral nor open. It is shaped by expectations, pressure and the slow unraveling of certainty on one side.

If this were to develop into a relationship, it could not be quick or simple. Attraction would not appear as something immediate, but as a byproduct of being forced to exist within the same space under different circumstances. Not as enemies, but not quite as allies either. More like two people who begin to realize that the other is not just what they once assumed.

What draws you to this dynamic is that shift. Not the conflict itself, but what happens when it starts to lose its simplicity. Attraction is not separate from tension here. It emerges from it. Resistance and interest exist at the same time, and neither fully disappears.

This pairing works in fanfiction because canon already hints at that development without completing it. Draco changes, but not enough for resolution. Harry reacts, but is never forced to redefine the relationship. Writers take that space and explore what happens when the process continues.

There is often a focus on attraction emerging at the moment perception begins to shift, rather than behavior. Draco remains sarcastic, guarded and difficult to read. Harry remains direct. But their interaction is no longer purely conflict driven. That is what creates a tension that also carries a physical dimension.

What this dynamic explores is the possibility of attraction between two people who would have rejected it at first. Not because they fundamentally change, but because they begin to see more than they intended.

    D → Harry × Tom Riddle dynamic

Dynamika, která stojí na zrcadlení, moci a velmi silné, ale nebezpečné přitažlivosti.
    Tom Riddle/Lord Voldemort/Harry Potter

Your result suggests that you are drawn to a dynamic built on mirroring, power and an intense yet dangerous attraction. This is not a relationship that would be stable or balanced. It is one where each sees the other in a way no one else can.

In canon, there is a connection between them that is not accidental. They share certain traits, parts of a past, and above all a potential that manifests differently in each of them. Tom Riddle is not someone who seeks balance or partnership. If attraction were to exist between them, it would not be based on equality, but on the recognition of something in the other that no one else sees.

That is the core of this dynamic. Not that they are the same, but that one sees how far the other could go. This creates a tension that is not only intellectual, but also physical. Because it is not safe. And that is exactly what gives it intensity.

If this were to develop into a relationship, it could not be gentle or open. It would function as an attraction tied to control. Tom would never stop pushing boundaries. Harry would never be fully controlled. That clash creates a tension that is both psychological and physical.

What draws you to this is not simply the idea of a “dark man.” It is the situation where someone sees your limits and tests them. Where attraction is not separate from power, but intertwined with it. Where it is intense precisely because it is not safe.

This pairing works in fanfiction because canon provides the foundation, but not the consequences. Writers take that connection and push it further, exploring what happens when it becomes personal. Not whether they would fall in love, but what attraction looks like between two people who cannot exist in balance.

There is often a focus on how Tom sees Harry as someone who could have been different, while Harry sees Tom as someone who chose differently. Between those perspectives, a space emerges where attraction and resistance coexist.

The relationship would never be stable. But it would be powerful.

    A short closing note

This Harry Potter quiz does not tell you what you should want or how relationships should work. It simply shows what kind of dynamic you respond to when you stay within canon characterization.

If the result resonates with you, focus on the underlying principle rather than the specific pairing.

The pairing may change, but the pattern usually stays the same.

I would love to hear your feedback, so if you find a moment to share whether it fits or not, I would really appreciate it.
